Privacy policy
Last updated: November 2026
The User Manual Co. (ABN 44 067 533 918) is a small sole-trader business in Western Australia. We respect your privacy and aim to handle personal information in line with the Australian Privacy Principles in the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth).
What we collect
- Your email address (and your name, if you give it) when you join a waitlist or ask for a free checklist.
- Order details when you buy a product. Payments are processed by our checkout provider (Gumroad). We do not see or store your card details.
- The FIFO Planner: anything you enter in the planner (roster, flights, energy log, sick diary, medicines, checklists) is saved only in your own browser on your device. It is not sent to us and we cannot see it. Clearing your browser data deletes it, so use the planner's backup button.
- Planner family links (optional): if you create a family link, a small copy of your roster is stored with our website host (Cloudflare) so the link can show it and update. That copy holds only the name you choose, your optional family message, your time zone, your roster pattern, shift times and fly-out/fly-home dates and times. It never includes your energy log, sick diary, medicines, notes, flight numbers or airports. Anyone with the link can view it. Turning the link off in the planner deletes the copy; unused links are deleted automatically 400 days after their last update. Snapshot links (used if the live service is unavailable) carry the roster copy inside the link itself, are not stored by us, and can't be turned off.
- Basic, anonymous website statistics (such as page views), if we enable them. We do not use them to identify you.
How we use it
- To send you what you asked for: the checklist, a launch email, or your purchase.
- To answer your questions.
- To send occasional emails about our guides, if you signed up for them. Every email has an unsubscribe link.
We do not sell, rent or trade your personal information.
Who we share it with
We use a small number of service providers to run the business, such as our checkout provider, email service and website host. They handle your information only to provide their service to us. Some of them may store data outside Australia (for example in the United States).
Keeping it safe
We take reasonable steps to protect your information and keep only what we need.
Access, correction and unsubscribing
You can ask to see, correct or delete the personal information we hold about you, or unsubscribe at any time, by emailing us. We'll respond within 30 days.
Complaints
If you have a privacy concern, email us first and we'll try to fix it. If you're not satisfied, you can contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at oaic.gov.au.
